- Great gift ideaChosen for real-world gifting
- Hand-pickedCurated, not scraped
- Honest reviewThe catch, not just the hype
Why this gift works
Thirty-six 22 ml tubes of Liquitex BASICS, the student range from one of the best-known acrylic makers. It is a medium-consistency paint with a satin finish, Liquitex rates the pigments lightfast, and every color carries the ACMI AP safety seal. Metallic gold and silver are in the box.
Thirty-six colors means earths, metallics and brights are there from day one, so a painter can experiment instead of buying tubes one at a time. It works on canvas, wood, paper and most surfaces acrylic sticks to, and cleans up with water while wet.
Who is this gift for?
Great for
- A student starting an art class this semester
- A hobbyist who paints canvases on weekends
Think twice if
- They paint only in oils or watercolor
- They already work with a professional heavy-body acrylic
The catch
The 22 ml tubes are small, so the most-used colors like white run out first - a larger tube of titanium white is a smart add-on - and student paint carries less pigment than professional lines.
Skip for an oil or watercolor painter, or a professional who already has a favorite heavy-body acrylic.
Worth knowing before you buy
- Each tube is 22 ml, and white runs out first.
- Acrylic is permanent once dry, so clean brushes promptly.
Why we like it
- Thirty-six colors, metallics included
- Lightfast pigments from a trusted maker
- A satin finish that blends easily
Questions people ask
Yes - it is a student range from an established maker, with lightfast pigments and enough colors to learn mixing without buying tubes one by one.
