The iDeck is Flight Outfitters' fifth-generation kneeboard: a padded board that straps to the thigh with a thick elastic strap and holds a tablet on a center deck that rotates with one finger between portrait and landscape. The large size fits iPad 5th to 9th generation, iPad Air 1 to 4 and iPad Pro 9.7 to 11 inch, and it adds a silicone phone holder, a fold-down side platform for writing, a pen pocket and a non-slip underside.
Most pilots now fly with charts and checklists on an iPad, and balancing it on a leg or wedging it by the seat does not work in turbulence. A kneeboard that keeps the tablet steady and turns it for approach plates is one of the most-used pieces of gear in a small cockpit.
