  • Great gift ideaChosen for real-world gifting
  • Hand-pickedCurated, not scraped
  • Honest reviewThe catch, not just the hype

Why this gift works

A small hummingbird feeder that fixes to the window with a suction-cup bracket, so the birds feed and rest right at the glass. Each 8 oz feeder has three feeding ports around a perch, sturdy polycarbonate construction, and an ant moat that can be used or left off.

This pack has two, so one can go on a kitchen window and one by a favorite chair - or one can be given away. Hummingbirds are the most exciting backyard birds to watch up close, and a window feeder puts them a few inches from the viewer.

Who is this gift for?

Great for

  • Someone who lights up whenever a hummingbird passes
  • A cook who wants a view from the kitchen sink

Think twice if

  • They won't refresh the nectar
  • Hummingbirds are rare where they live

The catch

Nectar has to be changed every few days in hot weather or it spoils, so this is a small ongoing chore - and hummingbirds only visit during their season in most of the US.

Skip for someone who won't keep up with changing the nectar.

How to fill and hang it

  1. Make nectar with one part white sugar to four parts water, stirred until the sugar dissolves completely, then let it cool. Skip red dye - Audubon advises against it.
  2. Clean and dry the outside of the window, then press the suction-cup bracket on firmly.
  3. Fill the feeder and hang it on the bracket.
  4. Change the nectar every few days in hot weather, and rinse the feeder each time you refill it.

Questions people ask
