The Soltech Aspect Grow Light (Gen 2) is a pendant light built around a single 36-watt LED that gives off 3000K warm white light with a CRI of 98, rather than the purple glow of many grow lights. It hangs from an 18-foot fabric cord with an in-line dimmer from 10 to 100 percent, and Soltech includes an outlet timer, a swag hook and wall fairleads. Soltech suggests hanging it 12 to 24 inches above bright-light plants, gives it a 5-year warranty and rates the LED for 50,000 hours. This listing is the white finish.
Most apartments have one bright window and a lot of dim corners. A grow light lets a plant lover put a fiddle-leaf fig or monstera where they want it, and this one looks like a design light, so it can hang in a living room without looking like a greenhouse.
It has to be hung from a hook, and its light falls off fast with distance - Soltech lists about 35 umol/m2/s at 4 feet - so it suits one plant or a small group. The maker says not to get it wet, and it is expensive for one light.
Skip if their plants already sit in bright windows, or they rent and cannot add a ceiling hook.
