Why this gift works
The OLFA Rotating Cutting Mat is a 12-by-12-inch, two-part mat: a non-slip base and an interlocking self-healing top that spins 360 degrees. It has 30, 45 and 60-degree bias lines and is for rotary blades only. OLFA pitches it for cutting squares, triangles, diamonds and circles and for trimming blocks to size. This is the current RM-12S-01 model, which replaces the older RM-12S.
Squaring up blocks and trimming half-square triangles means cutting from every side, and moving the fabric between cuts is how blocks go crooked. Turning the mat instead keeps the block exactly where it was. It pairs naturally with a quilter's main cutting mat.
